Hm, it's Sunday already...awesome!
I decided to start fresh as far as the blogging goes. I started out with livejournal, just like everyone. I got tired of that and then moved onto Xanga...got way tired of that. I blog on Myspace here and there but it's not very permanent. Since everything else has been pretty premanent in my life for the past three years, I feel as if I need a permanent blogging destination. Why not a better place then blogspot.com? Some of the gurus that I watch on youtube have blogspot accounts. I figured that I'd jump the gun.
Other than that senseless intro, I have been compulsively buying make up as usual. I watched a guru the other day on the tube, Julieg713, and she did some swatches of this one product by Jesse's Girl Cosmetics. So, I've heard about them for a while now but I wasn't that interested until I saw her swatches. She swatched these things called Eye Dusts which are comparable to MAC pigments. I ordered 4 of them. They aren't mineral pigments, which is great. I really dislike mineralized eye shadows. Usually the color payoff sucks and you have to keep building the product up just to get some sort of pigmentation to show. Also, they create much much more fall out than usual pigments. Anyway, I was totally impressed by these pigments and the quality. I can't wait till they come. Perhaps, I'll swatch them and show them off on here if they get an A+. I also ordered these Formula 13 lipglosses. Another guru on the tube, SarahVictor, talked about it in one of her videos saying that they are very comparable to MAC Dazzleglasses. Now, I LOVE the dazzleglasses. Knowing there is something out there exactly like it with a nice affordable pricetag makes me really happy. I ordered 2 of them in the colors Wild Berry and Pappaya. I also ordered a nail polish in Gunmetal.
Friday night, I went to Walgreens since they are having a big sale on their cosmetics. I got a few things. I got 2 Revlon Sheer powder blushes. They remind me of MAC MSF and my Laura Gellar Blush N Brighten except these aren't baked and do not have any veining. The colors are in splotches and when mixed together, you get the same effect as the MSF. Revlon was having a buy one, get one free on all their products. Then I got a CG Trushine lipstick. I don't usually like Covergirl products but it was on sale, so I just did it. It is a hot pink color and I don't know the color because it got peeled off with the seal. It's number 445. Lastly, I saw Sally Hasen lip products were on sale. Now, I really like Sally Hasen's Diamond Lip Treatment but I saw they had these mineral smoothing lip treatment. The colors were really pretty, so i got a purple one in Amethyst. It's really nice. It almost reminds me of MACs dazzleglass in Funtabulous except it's not as sparkly and it's more of a plum purple. It smells really good and looks amazing on and on top of my hot pink lipstick I got.
Black Friday, I decided to go shopping. I was kind of scared because when I went shopping on Black Friday in 07, I was in Austin as well but we went to this new shopping area by my grandmother's house that had just opened, so it wasn't busy. This time, my sister and I decided to go to Barton Creek Mall and we didn't wake up early. We got to the mall around 9am and it wasn't busy at all. Maybe all the shoppers had left but we were still surprised. Of course Torrid wasn't having any sales. That kind of sucked because I found a really cute shirt that looked so adorable on me and really showed off my weightloss but it was 54 dollars and there wasn't much to the shirt for it to be that much. I ended up buying my sister a shirt she had been wanting. Then at Lane Bryant, they were having buy one, get anything free. My sister and I decided to buy some bras. We both bought a bra and got another bra free. It was pretty freaking sweet. We were so surprised there were so many options left. We thought since we came late that all the cute bras would be gone but we got lucky! Then of course, I went to Sephora. I told myself that I wasn't going to buy anything but I couldn't really help it. My sister convinced me to buy this Urban Decay eyeshadow pallette. It had 10 shadows, a basic flat shader brush, and a mini UDPP for 36 dollars. I swatched all the colors and I was impressed except for one color. There is a white color in that pallette called Uzi that has huge silver glitter chunks in it. When I wiped the shadows off my hand, that awful silver glitter was stuck all over my hand still. What I dislike about this pallette is the brush sucks. I will never use that brush, ever. It's too stiff and it doesn't pick up the shadows well. Second, there are some shadows in there that are gorgeous but have too much glitter in them. If you don't pack the shadow in carefully, you will get tons of fall out and then your face will look like a disco ball. I prefer to keep a matte look all over my face, so that was a big negative. I also picked up this Smashbox lipgloss set. I got 6 lipglosses for 29 dollars. I LOVE Smashboxes lipglosses. They have amazing color payoff and they smell awesome like vanilla cupcakes. This set was so cute and had all the necessary colors needed. I find myself using the nude color the most. There were a few other things I want to go back and get. Tarte has a gift set with a tray of about 20 shadows, 20 lipglosses, and then a tray of a highlighter, contour, 4 blushes, 2 make up brushes, and a mini mascara for 57 dollars. These eyeshadows are FANTASTIC! I didn't even use a base when I swatched them and they are SO pigmented. The texture is amazing, creamy, and so smooth. I didn't swatch any of the glosses but I'm sure they are just as great. I also saw a Lara Mercier pallete for 48 dollars, I believe. It's a pretty neutral pallette but the colors are wonderful and so nice for fall/winter. It comes with a duo sided mini make up brush. The shadows are all soft and creamy as well. It has 3 matte shadows and the rest are all either a satin or frosty finish. Lastly, there is a NARS ligloss set that I HAVE to get. I LOVE NARS. I love NARS more than MAC. I think NARS has outstanding products. Sure, they are more pricery than other brands but its so worth it. The quality of all their products is worth every penny.
I suggest that if you've been wanting to try out different brands that now is the time to go shop at Sephora. There are a lot of really great deals going on since it is the holiday season. Also, if you can't afford that, check out all your local drugstores! L'oreal HIP must be getting rid of some of their products because at CVS they have some products discounted at 75% off and they are having a sale of Buy one, get one half off or free.
Hopefully this helps anyone who was curious!
